bring about
目的語が代名詞なら bring it about。
The Internet has brought about profound changes in how people learn.
The reform brought about a sharp fall in the number of accidents.
Real change can only be brought about when citizens take part in local politics.
These days, many people buy groceries online. This big change in shopping habits happened because smartphones became common and delivery services improved.
要約:The spread of smartphones and better delivery services have brought about a major shift in how people shop for groceries.
A small town opened a free community kitchen. After that, older residents began to talk with young families more often, and the town felt friendlier than before.
要約:A free community kitchen brought about closer ties between older residents and young families.
序論で論点を示す型:「A has the potential to bring about B.」
例:Artificial intelligence has the potential to bring about fundamental changes in the way doctors diagnose diseases.
理由の段落で、実際の効果を述べる型:「A would bring about B, which would in turn ...」
例:A shorter working week would bring about a better work-life balance, which would in turn reduce stress-related illnesses.
結論で、主体と条件を示す型:「B can only be brought about if ...」
例:Meaningful progress on gender equality can only be brought about if companies change how they evaluate employees.
3. cause / lead to / result in との違い
直接的 | cause A to do の形も取れる |
cause A to do と混同して、bring about A to do と書く誤りが見られます。
The new policy brought about more people to use public transport. → The new policy brought about an increase in the use of public transport.
The festival brought about many tourists to the town. → The festival brought many tourists to the town.(または The festival brought about a rise in tourism in the town.)
Major changes brought about after the war. → Major changes were brought about after the war.
Online classes became popular. Because of this, the way universities teach has changed a lot.
The popularity of online classes has brought about significant changes in university teaching.
has changed a lot は significant changes という名詞句に変え、bring about の目的語にします。
The reforms were brought about to improve the quality of public services.
The reforms were introduced to improve the quality of public services.(または The reforms brought about an improvement in the quality of public services.)
